Been a while.  A long while.  I guess I don't feel like much of a triathlete anymore so there's sort of a weird "posting apprehension" going on.

I guess I just wanted to say "hi" and can't really do it on the Triathlon Talk board.

Meh.

Still in remission.  I tried to start training again and get back my base, but I was having some real trouble getting moving again.  I could only manage to walk about a mile at the most.  Found out why - the ol' thyroid is a dried up, shrivled little raisin.  So hopefully the synthroid pills will help.  The messed up thyroid also played hell with my cholesterol and blood, so they've got me on more pills.  And they discovered the pain is from a spinal fluid thing... more pills.

Pills, pills, pills.  Damn I hate pills!

Battling some depression and a bummer work situation.  My waist and weight have gone through the roof even though I eat like a hamster now.  But I don't need to go down THAT pity-party road.

One good thing is that the chirporactic work I've been regularally getting is doing WONDERS for the post-radiation affects.  It's interesting how the Oncology field sort of just says, "treatments done, scans look clean, will monitor you and hope you stay alive to hit the 5 year mark."  "Any thought of rehab after the treatments?"  "Uh....  no.  Just don't have it come back and die."  It was really up to me and if it weren't for my chiropractor, my neck would feel like leather, feel as thick as a cantalope and I would only be able to turn my head about 45-degrees in each direction.

OK.  So maybe I did need to vent a little.  Just had a PET/CT follow-up yesterday and I guess I'm a little bummed about it all.  It's just taking a lot longer to come back than what I expected.

The 'Bigfuzzydad' story?  Yeah.  That was a good one.  I sure wish he were still around.  I could use him now.  Even a visit in a dream would be nice.  But I don't sleep well these days.

One more good thing: You're one hell of an inspiration to a lot of people and you're still fighting the good fight. I just got a Road ID dog tag, and on it, it has a saying that you embody. "Don't give up... Don't ever give up."

I may not know you, Doug, but you have secretly been a huge inspiration for me. Thank you for that.

Welcome back. I, too, don't know you personally but have followed your story and been inspired. Fell free to post anytime, and we won't hear of any "posting apprehension" due to lack of training. After all, this IS COJ

BFD!!! Good to see you. Melon presses to you and if ya hold still, my corgi will lick your face. That little guy just can't hold his licker.

S'okay if you're not a triathlete right now. You can come over here and sit with me on the slackathlete couch. It's comfy.

DOOOOOUUUUUUG {{{MELON PRESS}}}

Yes, you've been reprised many times during your 'absence,' so it's not like any of us are saying, "BigFuzzyWho?"

Man, you've been through the wringer. I'm sorry for that, and I am so happy to see you.

Triathlons, the race and the training, have pretty much not been part of my life for two years. And the last year, well ... dengue/chikungunya/typhoid/pneumonia. In a row. It ain't cancer but it sure has sucked. Some nasty chronic effects also. I hear ya on the weight/waistline ... not so much I'm fat (plumper for sure) but just downright flabby.

Well, again ... I'm just so happy to see you I'm shakin' my whole tail. In the shape I'm in, that kinda means it's shakin' me

Much love and many prayers to you.

Okay.  You know about cancer.  You kicked it in tail, we love that.

Here's the thing about depression: DEPRESSION LIES TO YOU.  And it lies to you from inside your own head, so it sounds 100% convincingly true.

Bhere's one simple reason I don't hate depression with the seething loathing I reserve for cancer: Depression?  Way more treatable.  Really and truly.

You kicked that cancer in the rear so hard it flew off the field inside out.  You did it with a grace and humor and inspired us all.  Now treat the depression.  Treating depression may not involve trademarked bigfuzzydoug grace and humor.  It's usually a much more private battle and a pretty painstaking process of figuring out what works and what doesn't.  But it IS treatable.. and we are still rooting for you all the way.

(And..Uh, Doug?  I haven't done a triathlon since 2007.    Occasional cycling, some crossfit, some shooting the breeze in COJ - no problem!)

fuzzy, have you had a chance to sail yet this year? Weather has absolutely sucked up here, but I know that will change and there's nothing that helps my head more than that.

Very happy to see posting.
