Go to the nearest highschool and listen for who is bragging about "Dropping a couple friends off at the pool last night"...

I used to swim at a Y and they had a program for mentally handicapped kids and adults and it seemed like every 'incident' involved one of them.  Then there was the old guy who sharted in the spa while I was in it... aka 'why I dropped my Y membership'.

This may have been the reason.  Our pool has a similar program Sunday Evenings so very possible.  Nothing a little chlorine can't handle.

Well off to the pool again this morning for take two ah to try again ah to swim!

Never had that happen, but I did have the guy in the lane next to me at the college pool throw up, apperently he was pushing it a bit too hard for a PR and hurled. The attendant, because there is no way I'm calling the barely awake frat boy drinking coffee at poolside a lifegaurd, had to get in the pool and help the guy out. Best swim session ever even if it only lasted 50M.

Summer camp at my YMCA means an ever present elevated code brown threat.  Last year I was doing my thing when a lifeguard came over and said, "You need to get out of the pool."

"Why?!" I demanded.

"One of the kids had an accident," she said.

"I'm not a paramedic," I replied.

"There is poo in the pool," she quipped.

I came outta that water like a marlin jumping at the end of line!

Sure enough, as I was leaving there were 3 or 4 pool employees gathered in the corner.  I looked down and saw what looked like a pile of dark brown sawdust.

"It'll be open in an hour," someone told me.

"No thanks"

So we all swim in un-chlorinated open water that contains all kinds of nasty bacteria, viruses, farm runoff, fish and other animal pee and poo, and all kinds of nasty things without giving it a second thought, but one little brown stain in the public pool that has enough chlorine in it to give you a sunburn, and everyone flips out?

Not to mention those unwashed gel packets that we bite open with our mouth!

I just thought you should know that I was going about my evening last night when this randomly popped into my head, and I had uncontrollable residual laughter.

Natural waterways have biological systems that clean the water (to an extent).  And many lakes, etc, are monitored for water quality with regard to ecoli if swimming is allowed.

A pool is a small, closed system requiring chemical and mechanical cleaning.

Chlorinated poo is still poo.
