Comments: New course + chip timing made this race AWESOME this year! I lined up in the back, saw some friends, waited for the (real) cannon to go off. Love this race, part of the Wichita River Festival and just awesome. First mile was congested but expected. Things cleared out and I just focused on running steady. I am not nearly as fast as I have been in the past, but I'm okay with that and okay with my pace today. It was hard but I felt I did the best I could on that day. 3 water stops but I passed on the last one, despite it being incredibly warm and humid. Dr. Speedo ran in with me the last 1/2 mile or so, that was SO nice! What would you do differently?: Nothin - it was great!  Post race
Warm down: Walked back to Michael's apartment and got ready to drive to Salina. Event comments: Wichita Festivals puts on a great race! Chip timing is a huge improvement. Up early and drove to Dr. Speedo's apartment since he lives just a few blocks from the start line. Oatmeal and coffee for breakfast.
Out the door for a 15-minute warm up jog. Hot and sticky already.
