Total Time = 2h 34m 24s
Overall Rank = 113/221
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 12/22
Pre-race routine:

Small bite to eat and drive over from SW Fort Worth
Swim
  • 24m 44s
  • 1500 yards
  • 01m 39s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim went much better than my last swim in which navigation was terrible. I think this swim might have been a little shorter than marked since my time was way better than expected. There was a little contact between swimmers, but not much.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, I was really happy with this swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

Went well. I probably could have gone a little faster, but since my swim was faster than expected I decided to slow down a little through transition.
What would you do differently?:

Just speed it up.
Bike
  • 1h 15m
  • 24 miles
  • 19.20 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt real fast on the bike. No wind on the course which was a real benefit to my ride. Was only expecting to average 18.0 on the bike since my last sprint was at 18.2 (windy day). In this International I was able to average 19.2, so I was very pleased
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

Had a little trouble getting on one of my shoes, but other than that all went well.
Run
  • 51m 33s
  • 5.8 miles
  • 08m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was hot. No clouds, breeze or shade. After about 2 miles I could feel the sun zapping my energy. Started well at my estimated pace of 8:00, but was probably closer to 10:00 by the end.
What would you do differently?:

Wear some sort of cooling ice pack or something.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, Gatorade, and ice. Found some shade, but so did everyone else so it got crowded. Drank the Gatorade, poured water on my head, and put ice in my tri suit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The Heat.

Event comments:

Needed more water stations on the run. They only had two, and they were crowded, and with the temperature that high they could have used one more.
