I'll be there, too! Look for the guy with the crap in his pants from fear of the Oly swim. (attractive thought, I know I just realized that I probably haven't swam 1600 yards without stopping since high school.

As an aside, 7:15 may cut a little close to my oly start time of 7:29. Supposedly we should be at the start area 10 minutes before our start. If we're at the bike out, will we have to cut across the people coming out of the water to get to the start?(Pro women start at 7:00 and should be out of the water around 7:15-7:20; pro men don't start till 7:11), Or will we have to go all the way around the transition zone? just a thought about logistics...

I can try to sneak out and meet you all over at the meeting spot. Not sure if they'll just fire me out to the "Section Three" area of the bike route. Either way I'll be looking for familiar faces... or shorts in your case Steve!

Anyone heading out to the Expo today?

Even if your not racing, the expo is still fun, with a few freebies

WARNING: Those jelly beans are very addictive. I ate like 10 packets while browsing around.

Great race, great support today. Swim sucked, but overall beat my goal time by about a minute (2:38:59). I guess this means back to the pool...

Did anyone think the run (for the sprint) was a LITTLE long? It was labeled as 3 miles, but I think it may have been somewhere between 3 miles and a 5K, but not quite a 5K.

According to their mile markers, my first mile was my slowest (which it felt like), and then I picked it up a bit for mile 2. I THOUGHT I was only going faster for mile 3, but then my final mile wasn't nearly as fast as mile 2.

Again, it's not so long that I think it's a 5K, but I think it may have been a "long" 3 miles. Thoughts?

(I was going to map it out online, but then I realized there's no way to know exactly where we turned around on the Cedar Bridge.)

My Garmin was considerably off from both their mile markers and the total distance.  I forgot to hit "stop" after crossing the finish line, so including all the walking around the finish area that I did for the 5 minutes after crossing the line, I still only clocked 6.15 miles.

I just figured it was the overcast day messing with the watch, because there's no way for an event as big as this that they would be that far off on the distances.

Photo of rdailey1, me, mnrunnergirl, and mnrunnergirl's friend Chels pre-race.

Roughly 2 hours later, I got to spank mnrunnergirl as I passed her on the bike (it was a gentle spank and it was a pre-race agreement, so no one take offense), and I got to see rdailey1 on the run. Fun race!!

What did your Garmin say about the bike course?  I've measured it twice at 41k on my computer, I've corroborated that with the computers and/or PT files of several others who have done the race, and if you do the math on the results you'll see that they're calculating your average speed against a 41k distance.  Despite all this they still advertise the bike segment as 40k.

I think the LTF run course is pretty legit just based on the run splits, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was a bit off of a true 10k.

I didn't wear the Garmin for the bike course so I'm not sure on that.  I think my computer's distance, including the run out and run back into the bike rack, was 25.41 miles.
