cobratodd - 2011-06-15 11:51 AM Down to the last two days and 19 hours before my first Olympic - this one - going to take it easy.  I had a few really hard rides this week, I did the Griskus Loop on Friday 1:22, then again on Sunday 1:16, then a Group A ride with a LBS which was 34 miles in 1:40.  Four days of swimming 1+ mile each in between.  No running because the shins have been really sore - I hope I'm ready for this.

Youa re ready.  take it easy.  you cannot build fitness this week (or last).  Let your body come back a bit.  I am not one for long tapers but that is a lot of hard work.  Dont over think this race.  at the swim start go slower than you think (its like public speaking, you speak methodically because you always speak faster than you think you are).  You've done the bike course several times, so that is no issue.  on the run, remember the down hils come first so you can't "save it for the end" because you have a mile up hill at mile 2-3 and 5-6.  pace youself on the down hills but let gravity take you.

Best part of this race: Most beer you will ever see at the race, lots of microbrew stuff too.  T3 is worth it!

someone say beer???

I might just have to do this race next year!!!

Oh wait, there are hills, i don't do races with hills

Last year there were Kegs of Sam Adams, Longtrail and Sierra Nevada IPA.

Best tri in Connecticut i've done.  Very local, good cause, well produced, lots of beer.

Just a single email here - if you hear anything, please forward or post here - thanks. Can spectators get into the Quassy park? Rides? Or was Rev3 an exception due to the size of it?

another email was sent, so check your inbox.  Race is sold out.  I got it around 11pm last night.  Looks like bike course is that same shortened route.   5 waves.

Quassy does operate on a per ticket basis (along with general admission), so anyone can enter the park, and you can then decide to buy individaul tickets for some rides or ride all-day pass.

Make sure you dont pay for parking though (like if you go to pick up your race packet Friday, I am sure not paying $10 parking or whatever they charge).

about 1/2 maybe a shade longer. but i base that on my swim time

howd all the first timers like the race... its my favorite race in CT.  triple burger and a squirt bottle of long trail after the race.

It kicked my butt!!Swim 15 minutes, got disorientated in the fog.Bike rocked! 1:10:08. - bumps ejected my spare tubes and air cylinders along miles 14 to 17, I hope someone used them if needed. The run hurt: 46 minutes - that hill -twice!!!!Overall, much better than expected on all three legs, even T1 & T2 were great. After Party was good too, although I didn't have any food because the body wasn't ready for it, it was nice to hang out with all.
