Swim
Comments: This is my first swim...needless to say I struggled with the entire gambit of things with swimming. I was very nervous to begin with so that didn't help. It's like I almost forgot all of my form and everything I had learned (which wasn't THAT much). Took on a bunch of water early which was discouraging. I let the pack go out first and just took my time but found myself quickly catching up to people. What would you do differently?: Take a wider turn at the bouy. Transition 1
Comments: I took a little long on the transition, I dried myself off to much I think as comparing my time to everyone else it was kind of long. Did a final check of everything before I took off with the bike so that added a little bit of time. Did real well getting the wet suit off though, was happy with that. What would you do differently?: Have my stuff a little more organized. I thought it was pretty good pre-race but once I was going through the motions it wasn't that good. Bike
Comments: I killed on the bike. I know my time doesn't show it because of the distance that you had to run before mount and dismount but it was great to feel that. Had the pedals on the shoes to try that out and I loved it, I love how you can coast along and finish getting ready for the ride. Did a one legged bike dismount, swinging the right leg over the seat before getting off. I decided not to wear gloves as for only 20 miles thought it might be a waste of time trying to put them on. Transition 2
Comments: This went pretty smooth. I could have sped it up a little bit but nothing too major. What would you do differently?: Have my wrist strap ready for the HRM. It got lost in the shuffle of stuff when I came in from the swim and left with the bike. Run
Comments: Pushed hard. Wasn't sure where I was going as I didn't know the course but followed people in front of me. What would you do differently?: I think I left too much in the tank on this one...I could have pushed harder. Post race
Event comments: Chris Bowcutt, director, did a great job putting this together. Lots of volunteers, everything was made very clear for time and what was coming up. Wish they had done some sort of medal for the race but they did towels (which I forgot there) instead. Very impressed and will be doing it again next year. Last updated: 2011-06-13 12:00 AM
