Well that's cool. They made a big deal about the cruve in the 5430 and that was nothing. But they did make a big deal and since I didn't know it, I did take it easy. I would do the same thing for the Peak too.

I have discs on my other bike and trying to get used to cantalevers again is a little eye opening at times. Can't wait for discs on road bikes. Don't care about the weight.... disc brakes are a no brainer.

Just did Old Stage Road this weekend and it wasn't paved yet. Wondering what they're planning to do...

I was signed up to do this race; but am injured and figured I should heal up for the 70.3 instead of pushing it by running so soon, but am glad I got to do the bike course at least once this year!

Good luck to all of you!

According to the Boulder Tri Series FB page......Lee Hill is "anticipated to be partially complete by the 9th." which means 1 layer of asphalt will be down.

So I asked what if that 1st layer was NOT down on the 9th.....then what???   They replied....."that is all the info we have for now.

anyone gonna be up that way this week, that can update us on road conditions? I'm picking up my packet on Friday. So, I'll do a drive-by on Lee Hill to check the road conditions that afternoon.....crossing my fingers....kinda

I rode up there yesterday morning (Tues 5th) on the way over to Lefthand Canyon. It seems that they're making rapid progress. When I rode up Lee Hill Rd. on the way out it was 100% gravel, and then when I passed that way again a couple of hours later they already had laid down a good amount of blacktop. I had to wait for a while due to traffic control, so I got to talk with one of the attendants, and she said that they expected to have half of the road surfaced by the close of business yesterday. Looks like there's a good chance that there will be a nice surface to ride on come race time.

dangit, I was secretly hoping that paving would not be done & an alternate route (not involving a 16% incline) would be used. Oh well, at least the road will be smooth....unlike my cadence

^ this was my secret hope too.  Bummer.

I guess I'll be happy that FOR ONCE, I get an early wave.  6:50.  But another hot pink cap (ugh).  Maybe I paid my "long wait for my wave to start" dues with Ironman Texas 70.3 last April - my wave was OVER 1.5 hrs after the pro start.  That sucked.

What's facebook?

I just drove up Lee Hill Rd.  Paving is 75% done (two layers going north, half of the south side done).  Lots of cones around.  Still one lane traffic.

Boulder Res water is 74F.  It felt wonderful with my sleeveless wetsuit.  Probably fine without.

They should have given it to you with your numbers, I got a new in the wrapper Orca with my envelope.

Get settled in transition in the morning, then go to the Solutions table in the expo area,  right next to the table where they were activating chips.

If you have a cap the same color as your wave (or anything close), bring that as a backup.

Did anyone catch what they'll have out on the run course?  Just water?  Gatorade and water?  Perform?

Edited: nevermind - watched the video.  Gatorade Endurance every mile - yay!

I hope everyone had fun. I signed up for the series... did the Sprint... today... well hurt. All I kept thinking during the run was that I had to double it in 3 weeks!!!!

Lee Hill hurt. All I have is a 39x23. Didn't put a foot down though.

Pretty happy with my results. Beat my goal by 7 minutes.

Glad I got my first olympic behind me.  I struggled through the swim, with the sun I was having a hard time sighting, and took me out of my rythm.  I did much better after turning to shore, four weeks to improve on that.  The ride was fun, I enjoyed the course.  I was glad the clouds moved in during the run.

No kidding on the swim out.  I was having a terrible time sighting.  I could find any good markers on the hills behind and with the sun I couldn't hardly see the next buoy in line.  I kept having to breaststroke just to figure out where to swim.

Heading back in the white arch was easy to spot with the sailboats just to the left.

Overall the race was awesome.  I don't think we could ask for better weather for a race in mid-July.

Same here with the sun blindness!  I actually stopped at one point because I couldn't see a thing and couldn't find the buoys.  As I tread water, I finally caught a glimpse of the big yellow turn buoy.  It was less than 15 feet directly in front of me!!  Yet I couldn't see it at all through my foggy goggles + sun glare.

Sun glare made the traffic that much more disoriented and kind of jammed some folks up.  I think most of us lost a little time b/c of that but hey, the water was a perfect temp so that's a big positive.

Ya that Sun was brutal for the swim. Regretted not getting shaded goggles.

The weather was perfect with that overcast. I kept wondering if we were going to be so lucky for Aug.
