Tri Minnesota Triathlon Racing Series
70F / 21C
Overcast
Total Time = 1h 20m 47s
Overall Rank = 55/438
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 3/19
Pre-race routine:

Got there very early in order to keep things calm and serene. Picked up packet and found a nice spot in transition. Had my Larabar and talked to friends.
Event warmup:

I always take awhile to get going in the swim so just got a good warm up in the lake.
Swim
  • 13m 30s
  • 805 meters
  • 01m 41s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was a good swim for me. Found some open water and was able to find my stroke earlier rather than later. Had to avoid some breast strikers a few waves ahead of me but plenty of room to maneuver. Actually thought I went quicker than this due to feeling good.
What would you do differently?:

Deeper warm up
Transition 1
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Good transition. I wanted to improve my times here because it has been a slow area for me.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 41m 23s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 21.02 mile/hr
Comments:

Did not think my overall ranking in the bike would be this fast. Felt sluggish for the first half of the ride. Good at times, not so good at times. Pace was good though and I am happy with time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Hell yea!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 23m 25s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. Was feeling like I was running out of steam the first half and was hurting. Second half still hurt but went faster. Managed to negative split the run and come in fast and smiling.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Post race
Warm down:

Found Kelly who showed up to watch. Was very happy to see her and bask in a good race. Got some free Muscle Milk and just chilled and hooked up with others as they came in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I had a good race, can I improve, of course. But I won't nitpick this race.

Event comments:

This is a good race I would recommend. I had a great race and things came together as a whole race. I managed to get to the podium for the first time and knocked 3:50 off of last years time.

Woah, awesome bike and run!! All that training is definitely paying off and I am guessing this is just the tip of the iceberg since you'll be working hard all summer

Congrats on getting to the podium!  Awesome accomplishment.  I plan to outlive my competitors so I can get there by default.
