Some basic running, jumping jacks and pushups.
Swim
  • 28m 6s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Just average. Didn't really feel like i was cruising until final 500 meters.
What would you do differently?:

Get in and swim more before the start. I tend to need about 300-400 meters to really get going
Transition 1
  • 01m 56s
Comments:

SAND!!! ahh - my section of transition area was in sand. Sand everywhere. I went ahead and took the time to bring a towel onto the pavement to wipe my feet off before putting them into my bike shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Clip pedals into bike and try it that way. get wetsuit down to waist before i get to bike.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 2s
  • 24.8 miles
  • 19.83 mile/hr
Comments:

Had my first ever bike mechanical issue during race. Had some chain issues of poor shifting and it finally came off and jammed. First time Ive had to pull over. Decent recovery but it was an eye opener on how much momentum you lose when you go from 21.0 to 0 and then try to star again. Wore an aero helmet for the first time. Not sure if it helped or not with the bike breakdown. Also, couse was an eye opener that i need to train on more hills. Also witness the most road rage from cars/motorcycles than ever before. the couse was great, but the people who were out and about that day
What would you do differently?:

Train on some hills in addition to regular long-slow ride flat course.
Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Sand - that's all I need to say
Run
  • 52m 57s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Actually pleased on such a slow pace. I thought i was way slower than that. i have been cycling at a higher cadence and i think it is helping me off the bike. Another age grouper recommended Run Less, Run Faster and I think I'm going to check it out.
Post race
Warm down:

Very hot, cold wet towel, stretch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow swim, transitions, bike problem and slow run

Event comments:

Glad i was able to participate in this race's final year.

Nice race.  I also was in a sandy part of the transition area and it took a while to clean my feet off.  I thought the newly paved roads were great.  I forgot about the cold towels they handed out.  Those felt great.
