Yes...food IS good.  Too good.  I regret to inform you that I have been a BAD BOY.  I've been eating bad stuff in order to get calories in me for workouts, etc.  But these calories are BAD.

I need a food/nutrition challenge to keep my choices good.  I figure the only way I can keep myself on the straight and narrow is to join a challenge that involves this.  It used to be so easy when I had a desk job, but now that I am working in a running store (ha...you laugh cuz you think it's healthy!) I have NO lunch hour so I have to eat CRAP just to be able to say I ate SOMETHING.

Is ANYONE interested in doing a nutrition challenge?  I know it's in the middle of race season, but sheesh...I need HELP!

Thanks.

I'm flexible, but here are a few angles you could consider for the challenge...

-cut crap out (pop, deep fried ___, junk snacks, refined grains)

-put good in (fruit, veg, lean meat, low fat dairy, whole grains)

-calorie counting (might be hard to get enough interested people, but it's a valuable tool for assessing and fixing habits)

Yep. I need this challenge too. I am much better off eating FRESH veggies & fruit, grains (quinoa, rice) and beans/legumes than that processed/fried/bad-for-you stuff.

I'm in, but I might need a one meal a week "treat"

P.S. I count calories & it's been working for me the past week. I really need to keep it up. That & planning ahead is key for me.

I am very interested.  I go through good periods and bad periods in my nutrition.  Seems I've recently crossed over to the 'dark' side.  This would be a nice push back to healthiness for me.

AWESOME!!

OK I was thinking pretty much what everyone is saying.

Some of the things I need to get rid of...
Fried foods
Diet soda (all soda...but I drink diet so...)
High glycemic foods (white bread, etc.)

I need to eat more fruits, vegetables, and lean meats.  I keep eating Chick Fil A cuz it's really close to work.  BAD BAD.
Also, yes...one cheat day a week or this will fail miserably in the first week.  But no more than one cheat day.

We'll all need to log the foods we eat to be accountable to each other.  I usually find that when I log my nutrition here, I am always more apt to eat better.  Its just that no one really looks unless I am in a challenge, so...there's that.

OK, any other ideas?  And when do we start?  What's the final goal?  Weight loss? Body composition? Your OWN goal?
AND HOW LONG DO WE DO THIS??

Well, they say it takes 3 weeks to make a habit. Maybe we should err on the conservative side and go for at least a month?

My own goal is weight LOSS - but I know everyone is on their own path...

I am familiar with logging food on the nutrition log & it's pretty easy & you can add your own custom stuff if you don't see what you are eating listed. Sounds good to me...

and...the SOONER the BETTER

Yeah I'm with ya there.  I need to start NOW.  OK, so we should all post a goal.

I guess since I started this, I should keep track of everyone's progress.  I am good at spreadsheets (nerd) so I would be willing to make one up and keep track of it on a weekly basis.  Sound good?

If y'all would just post your goals here, I will get started on a spreadsheet.

I think 60 days is a great time duration...any objections?

?My main goal is to lose weight, but specifically I need to get better at consistently logging my nutrition and staying around/under 2000 calories per day.  60 days sounds good to me, and I like the idea of one cheat night.

PALEO!!  Yes!!  OK, I like this alot!

So...I will start off the goal list.

MY GOAL:
Be under 11% bodyfat in 60 days and get my sixpack back!!

I will definitely log all my meals daily and at the end of every week I'll make a spreadsheet of how we're all progressing.  WOOHOO!!  I'm excited now!

My goal is to drop about 6 pounds in the next month. Are we tracking food on our individual BT training logs or do we need to come here daily to post food and nutritional information?

my goal is 5 pounds of body fat lost.  Darn vacations.  And to keep protein about 20% (um, failing miserably at that one today so far).  I'm using the BT logs to log my nutrition.

Goals I'd like to accomplish during this challenge:

  • Lose 15 pounds
  • Not eat after 7pm (unless it is a cheat meal/day - which I'm granting myself one time per week)
  • Have less than 20% of my calories coming from fat
  • Eat less than 1700 calories/day (except for the cheat meal/day - I still cannot decide which it should be - probably a meal for me since I'm food addict)

Good Luck Everyone!! Happy HEALTHY eating )

Another option is to have a cheat food daily?  I don't actually believe in cheat meals.  I can easily lose all my progress in one silly little meal.   But, I love me my chocolate so I make sure having a nice high quality piece of dark chocolate every day is in my plan.

Ok I want in, I need someone to hold me accountable for my eating!

My goal is to lose as much weight as possible over the next 60 days, cut way back on sweets (ice cream mainly) and watch portion sizes. 1 cheat day sounds good.

Just started logging my nutrition today

Thanks for the challenge Q!
