Pre-race routine:

race was an hour away

Trying two new things in this race....no socks and no watch/bike computer.

Event warmup:

swam a little
Swim
  • 03m 40s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt like the swim was faster than this.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Transition went really well without socks. Time is a little long since I tried to bike out the run out (dumb move) and had to turn around and go back through transition to the bike out. I think the volunteer was so stunned to see me coming she couldn't get the words out to tell me I was going the wrong way :)
What would you do differently?:

head to bike out right off
Bike
  • 43m 12s
  • 14 miles
  • 19.44 mile/hr
Comments:

Happy with this bike. It felt good, but I had no idea where I was pace/time wise. I think if I had known where I was I would have pushed it a little more. But then again, I may have suffered on the run if I went harder. I think I'll go "no computer" again and see what happens.
Transition 2
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

went pretty well
Run
  • 25m 57s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Liked this run
What would you do differently?:

Didn't have my watch to know where I was pace wise, so I just ran comfortably. Next time I need to push it a little more.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out and waited for Wes to finish.
After he finished we saw Doug and hung out a while waiting for the awards.

Event comments:

Nice little race. Seemed low key which was perfect for where I am in training. Tried two new things today, and it went pretty well. Did get a blister on rt little toe, so need to adjust there.

Course: Pool swim. It was nice as traffic was only going one direction in each lane, very smooth water. Only passed one swimmer, and it was an easy pass as there was no one coming down the lane in the opposite direction (that and she let me pass). Note: I went off #13. I heard after #150 it was a cluster "mess" as some folks didn't have a good handle on what ballpark their 100 time was.

I watched your entire swim, and you were one of the most consistent in both form and pace. Saw you on the bike and run and you looked good both times. Your bike pace has improved a lot.

Enjoyed hanging out with you and Wes. Where did he put your monkeys?!

Way to go with 1st AG. Post a picture of the fabulous trophy!
