upgrade from 9 speed to 10 speed

Question for the group, my CAAD 9 currently has a 9 speed build.  Due to one crash, my rear derailleur and chain are now busted along with one of the shifters.  I was considering upgrading to a 10 speed shimano build since my tri bike already has that set up.  

My question, can i use the original shimano crankset/front derailleur, or are the teeth a special size for a 9 speed (width, etc). 

I used to swap cassettes from road to tri to go from a 9 speed cassette to 10 speed. So now i am hoping just to swap out the wheels.

Any thoughts?
