Sunny
Total Time = 1h 18m 30s
Overall Rank = 59/342
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 6/21
Pre-race routine:

Got to event early (5:00am) to rack bike, set up transition area and warmup. I ate a bowl of cereal before leaving the house. I ate a banana and a cliff bar while setting up in transition. I had plenty of time to get ready and chill out before my 7:12am start time.
Event warmup:

After setting up in transition area went out for a very EZ half mile run. I also got in a 200-300 yard swim warmup.
Swim
  • 11m 9s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall I had a great swim. There was one group of 4 or 5 swimmers that went out fairly fast and I tried to draft but decided it would be smarter to swim my own race.
What would you do differently?:

I don't think anything.
Transition 1
  • 02m 12s
Comments:

I felt that for my first tri, my transition was awesome. I got out of my wetsuit fairly fast (stepping on it actually really helps). Getting my socks and shoes on went faster than I thought it would. Mounting my bike was no problem other than avoiding the other people who were having difficulties clipping in.
What would you do differently?:

Put my helmet on while taking off my wetsuit. I never actually thought about that.
Bike
  • 38m 22s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 19.44 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good on the bike. Started off feeling sluggish. Legs felt like noodles after getting out of the water. Didn't fell really warmed up until mile 10 or so. By then of course, it's too late.
What would you do differently?:

I would have spent more time on my tri bars. I haven't spent enough time in training on them either though. Overall, I just need more saddle time to get better on the bike. I was slow!
Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

I was very happy with the speed of this transition. Everything went very smooth.
What would you do differently?:

I would bike harder going in and not forget where the dismount line is (I tried to dismount early).
Run
  • 25m 40s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Pace felt good. Felt a little sluggish coming off the bike but the pace was still there. Was able to hold pace just fine and had a little left at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Light stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I just need more saddle time on my bike.

Event comments:

I can't wait to do the international distance race at Pleasant Prairie next year!
