My swim SUCKED!!!!! Had to stop before the half way point and open up the back of the wetsuit. I could not breath at all. Could not swim straight and kept going right into the shallow water and hitting my hand on the bottom.

What would you do differently?:

Practice open water swimming.

Comments:

Good bike. Could of road harder but I did not want to totally kill my run legs. Caught up to Robin at 13.5 miles. She killed me on the swim.

Around mile 18 I was down to about 4oz. of liquids. So I had to be careful to only take small sips.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder

Comments:

Legs left 100% on the run. No issues at all. But every time I tried to run under 8:00 min. miles I would get cramps on my right side. Seen Brue on the run and he was flying back in when I was still going out.

3-8:05
4-8:00
5-7:49
6-7:25 Tried to speed up a little here when Brue helped push me to run harder and knowing I only had one more mile to go. I was ready to quite by this point.
0.2-1:28
What would you do differently?:

Just need to do more speed work.
Post race
Warm down:

Took the Kayak out for 1:30 hours fishing

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of open water swimming and side cramp on the run.

You need to be a sprint triathlete with super fast transition times.

Good bike and your run slits look great - you negative split every mile!!!  Most coaches and athletes argue this is the ideal way to run races (a smaller group say run even splits).  Yet lots of seasoned runners can't do that.

I tried to neg split this but my first 5 miles were are about the same.  I did drop on 6th.

Hope the fish were biting.  I wound up not bringing the canoe or family.

No luck on fishing. I was trolling in my kayak and it also kicked my but. After about one and a half hours I had to head home since I was whooped. Lucky they had that energy drink in the race packet or I would of had to take a nap in the truck.

Brue: Some reason I almost always negative split or run even miles on 10ks only.
