Comments:

I got punched right when the horn blew and my goggles got shifted, did the swim with one eye closed the whole time. Ended up with a little black eye from it. Didn't get a good start spot for the swim, and was pushed around a lot in this small wave. Guess the older women are a bit more aggressive, they were not nice in there!
Transition 1
  • 03m 3s
Comments:

Good T1, we didn't have to rack our bikes so far away, so probably better then other SDIT's, but I felt like it was a better transition then I normally do, I tried to be quick.
Bike

  • 18.64 miles
  • 0.32 mile/hr
Comments:

I'm out of bike shape or just tired. I was getting tired on the bike and couldn't believe the gears I had to ride up in, I normally don't have to climb in my small chainring on this race, but today I had to. My bike time is one of my worst on the bike for this race (based on memory, I haven't checked past years).
Transition 2
  • 02m 21s
Run
  • 51m 39s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

We had to run through soft sand during the 1st mile, but that was only change in course. Run saved my bike, at least today I could tell I actually trained for a marathon, I was able to negative split the run, which made me happy.

Event comments:

Overall for the training I've done, I'm happy. I think that was actually a PR. Maybe I should do this race after some real training and see how I can do, I can tell I'm not in great triathlon shape, it'd be interesting to see what I could do if I was sticking to a solid program. I think I was 20th in my age group. Wow I'm slow! This race is always humbling with how fast some of the other racers are (whether I'm in prime shape or not, I still wouldn't get close to the times the top women in my age group were getting).
