Total Time = 2h 31m 1s
Overall Rank = 54/187
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 1/5
Pre-race routine:

up at 4:45. I actually slept!!! Car packed night before, coffee, oatmeal, banana, G1 prime. Arrived on time at 5:30 racked on an end, waited with Brue and Keith.
Event warmup:

Um... potty.
Swim
  • 24m 22s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 37s / 100 meters
Comments:

Ultra-fit needs bigger bouys. Sighting was hard with orange and yellow caps AND orange and yellow bouys that were small. The course felt comfortable since I swim it often enough.
What would you do differently?:

Better sighting of the wave infront of me. Many times I was kicked or ran into them walking in the water.
Transition 1
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

Ugh. I feel like T1 takes forever. I just need to rip the wetsuit off instead of being careful. Then again, I don't want to have to replace it...
What would you do differently?:

Next year is the year of no socks (I hope). That should help...
Bike
  • 1h 19m 12s
  • 24.8 miles
  • 18.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Again, my legs felt tired and sore. I don't know why. I tried to push it a little bit, but as usual, was passed regularly. I knew it would happen though. I did end up passing quite a few people though. I babied my corners- it was starting to rain and I didn't want my bike to slide out from under me. I'm still shaken from having to ditch my bike a month ago. ALSO- was certain I was going to meet my Maker on 36/37 when a van and car didn't see the stopped traffic and almost crashed when they veered into the lane next to me. WOW! Glad I didn't have my HRM there!!!

-had 4 blocks on the bike, and some water.
What would you do differently?:

Get some guts and not worry about crashing! Also, bike more, bike more, bike more.... this is ridiculous!
Transition 2
  • 00m 47s
Comments:

Again, wet pavement, so i took it slow so I wouldn't crash getting off the bike. Ended up on the wrong side of the bike and then couldn't get the front of the bike under the rack. ERG!!!
What would you do differently?:

Again, don't be such a pansy.
Run
  • 45m 13s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

Wow! Where did this come from? My heart felt great, my legs felt strong, WOW!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Steve and kids got there just after I finished. What a surprise! I thought they were going to church!!! Oranges and gatorade afterwards.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Biking. The one element that involves a machine and not just my body.

Event comments:

Ultra-fit always puts on a solid race. Nothing too flashy, but lots of goodies to snack on at the end.

I thank the Lord that He has given me the ability to do this, and to do it reasonably well.

you are smokin fast especially the run!- and getting faster all the time.  the new bike takes some time to adjust to (took a year for me)  and for me it was a matter of mentally pushing myself.  you can do it -----without a coach,
