Overall Rank = 68/947
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 3/22
Pre-race routine:

Had a cliff bar for breakfast and drank some water. Got there at about 5:30 and set up, but had to wait until my wave, the 10th went off which was at about 8:00
Event warmup:

Only got to warm up for a couple minutes in the water before the swim
Swim
  • 20m 8s
  • 1094 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim went real well, initially everyone else took off, but I just got into a rhythm and began catching them all. Finally paced a swim well and it payed off with a 6th in AG. It was also really hot.
What would you do differently?:

I probably could have pushed a bit harder but overall a decent swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

I was 2nd in my AG and 54th overall, long T1 due to the run from the water. I passed 3 people during T1 so I was very happy with it.
Bike
  • 54m 8s
  • 17.5 miles
  • 19.40 mile/hr
Comments:

Hills are my nemisis, I wanted a 20mph average and didn't get it. I paced the first half because I knew the hills that killed me last year, and punished the second half. Passed tons of people and only had one person, some guy with disk wheels of course, passed me.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder on the first half but I am happy with it.
Transition 2
  • 00m 54s
Comments:

3rd in my age group and 22nd overall, so another great transition.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 26m 26s
  • 3.4 miles
  • 07m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

The first mile was a bit rough, I couldn't breathe very well. After that I got into a good rhythm, hills on the 2nd mile almost killed me but i kept it together and put in a decent finish. I think I could have gone faster if I needed to but the next guy in my AG was wayyyy behind me (I saw him after a turnaround) so I didn't push it into that extra gear in my last mile.
What would you do differently?:

just keep up the running training.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and got some food.

Event comments:

Had a great time and got my first age group podium in a triathlon!
