Hello!  I just signed up for this race.  Looks like a fun little race and will be my first DQ event.  Anyone out there that's done this one before?  It seems like it's received pretty favorable feedback from BT.com reviewers.

You should check all the race reports from previous years.  It's a fun race.  Straight swim across the extremely shallow lake.  Fast bike course.  Out and back run around the lake.

Just last night I backed out of this race and in lieu of the AC international Tri.  I did this race last year and its a fast course.   Some people complained about the road being in poor shape, but it really wasn't that bad.  A few small pot holes here and there but not really noteworthy.   The swim is a point to point but short and shallow.  I think the deepest part is chest/head high.  The Bike course if pretty flat with the occasional small roller but you shouldn't have to come out of the big ring.  The run is flat and fast and through the neighborhood.  I really wanted to do this race to blow the heck out of my time last year.  Oh well.  Its a good race and its well run.  You will have a good time.  Oh and the transition is rather long.  So I would get there early and pick a spot.  I like to set up near the bike out as I run with my bike shoes on while heading out.

Surprised to see it was not sold out, so I signed up a few hours ago.

I'm doing this one! A buddy from work is as well, and it will be his first tri.

Anyone know water temps? I dont think I'm bringing a wetsuit. With such shallow water, I'm hoping its going to be low 70s given the abundant sunshine we've had this week. Anyone know for sure though?

Water temp will be warm (70's) - you won't need a wetsuit unless you want the added bouyancy.  It looks like they expanded the number of entrants this year to accomodate for the Medford Lakes race they had to cancel last weekend because of Irene.  Usually this race is capped at 350 entrants and it's over 460 now.  It's a very crowded race at 350 - I hate to see what 460 is going to look like.  They are going to have to re-think the transition area or else it's going to be dangerous.

Hearing from a reliable source that bike will be changed from 11 mi to 9.5 mi do to a large sink hole on the course.

I hope the rest of the course is clear from debris and damage at least.
