Hello,
This will be my first tri, so I'm not expecting much in so far as finish time. I just want to get my feet wet, and have a point to work from for the future. And I hope to meet some people and have a good time.

Is anyone else doing this race?

Thanks

I'll be there.  It's one of my favorite races of the year.  Would love to meet up if we could.

I am doing this one also.  While your feet are wet you may as well do the Sharks one on Siesta in Oct.

Me too! It will be my 2nd time doing this race.  As long as the course hasn't changed, you can check out the race reports from last year to get some perspective on the race.

Mark,
I'll keep my eyes open for you, I am picking my packet up on Friday at dinner but I am not sure what time I'll be there.

Mike,
I have a couple more on my list for this year, maybe Lido Key, Siesta and/or Longboat Key. I read some positive reviews on Siesta and that the run at Siesta is on sand and some traffic control stuff on the bike. So I'm trying to figure out what I'm ready for and what would be a stretch for this year...

Chris,
I have read through a few reports on here, and I believe the course is the same as last year. I hope so, since I ran through it this weekend as a training session. From what I've heard and read, it looks like a good place to start.

Thanks!

I'll be there as well.  1st time doing this race.  I'm impressed with emails from the race director so far.  They seem to have their act together.  Won't be checking in until race morning.  Hopefully I can meet up with some of you guys after the race.  Good luck!!

I'll be there, checking in on Saturday morning.  Raced last year and had a blast.  Very organized event. Lot of shade. This year they promise no construction on the run.

I''d second Siesta Key.  That was also a fun race with a LOT of food at the finish.  Seriously, full meal, snacks, etc.  Impressive.

enjoy,

Duane

I'm willing to organize a BT meeting at this race, any suggestions as to when, where and how to find each other?

I'm hoping to be there a bit early and I'm checking in on Friday night. So either of those options or afterward works for me.

I'll be checking in the morning of the race.  Maybe we could link up right before the awards ceremony.

I'm number 8. First time I've weighed more than my race number! Look for the large guy in the bright yellow Ryder Bikes tri suit. Good luck to everyone.

Congrats to all who raced today!

Mark, nice to finally meet you.

Sherri, good to see you again and glad to see our lack of swimming didn't slow us down!

Chris, way to finish your first!!!

At 40 today I completed my first triathlon (finishing very well to my surprise).  I thought the environment was great- everyone was very friendly and helpful.  Plenty of volunteers who were working hard in the heat yet they were all so very supportive.  It was great seeing people cheer for others who were going to cross the line yet they had no idea who these people were-  The music at the beginning was great- I'm so glad I had this experience-

It was very hot- especially for the run- I would love the next one to begin at 6:30 or 7am.  I was so nervous I didn't sleep the night before anyways and the heat wouldn't have been as intense for the run.

I missed you guys at the race.  Looks like everybody had a great one.  I thought the organizers did a great job.  Swim conditions were fantastic, bike course was fast/shaded and scenic, and the run was well.... hot.  I'll do this race again in the future.

Congrat's Lance on completing your 1st triathlon!!!

Thanks junthank, I appreciate it!  Hope you did well and enjoyed the race.  Everything you said about the race I agree with.  Is the start time of 7:30am standard for most races?  I would have liked to of had a 7am start time in order to help with the heat on the run- my feet were getting pretty hot on the tar.

I later found out that the guy who finished ahead of me by 4 seconds was in my age group.  It would be nice if each age bracket had differentiating markings so it would be easier to compete with people in our age brackets (different color markers?).  If I would have known he was in my age bracket I may have made an attempt to catch him on the run.  Easy to say today because I'm feeling good- yesterday probably not- but just a suggestion.

Congrats everyone.  Fun race.  I agree on the start time.  Not sure why it is a 7:30 start.  We were sitting on the beach at 6:50 and it was plenty daylight.  Also needed water a bit sooner than they had it on the run.  I was parched by the time I hit the first station.

One of the few races that serve chocolate milk at the finish.  Love it.

I've never seen a race that had different markings for the different age groups.  I guess they figure if you are close enough to pass you are close enough to see their age

enjoy,

Duane
