Subject: Spectators finding you during HIM

I am doing Racine 70.3 next week. I am going to start is solo but have a few spectators that want to see me finish. I was reading in the athlete packet that cell phones are prohibited on the course. I had planned on sending a text or calling when I started my run so they had some idea on timing. Since this is not possible now, are there any other options? Can I call in the transition? Is there online athlete tracking? This is my first HIM so it will be tough for me to give them a general estimate.

thanks

There is online tracking at ironman.com but it can be spotty at times.  I would bet even though it's your first, you could guess within an hour of your finish time.

You should have a pretty good idea of your finish time...to w/i about +/- 30 minutes.  So the worst case, they'd have to be at the finish line for about an hour.

I can't imagine why you couldn't send a quick text in T2.  Give them your expected run time in advance so you don't have to figure that out and just have to say "in T2".
