Total Time = 1h 26m 57s
Overall Rank = /260
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 8/16
Pre-race routine:

1/2 bowl of cheerios and a Cranergy
Event warmup:

Little swim in the lake, some stretching
Swim
  • 17m 22s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started stroking easy and checked navigation every 30 strokes. Really lost direction going around the last bouy. Ended up swimming extra yardage due to swimming straight to the shore. Best swim time ever in this event.
What would you do differently?:

Watch is around the last bouy.
Transition 1
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Had this thought out in my head before the race. Much better than in years past. Was unclipped before jumping off the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Don't worry about the number, and leave the biking gloves at home.
Bike
  • 34m 28s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.15 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty decent. Best bike time ever in this event. Felt strong on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Happy with my performance. I held my tag the whole race. Will leave it until the run next year.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Good transition
What would you do differently?:

Leave the biking gloves at home next year.
Run
  • 32m 21s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Just a terrible run. I worked on my run harder this year than in years past. Dual calf cramps for the first mile and a bad stoumach cramp for the entire race. Not sure where that came from.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe eat a banana before the race next year.
Post race
Warm down:

Hit the curb and tried not to hurl my cookies.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramps and a stomach cramp really killed my run. Also not knowing how slow I was going. I will have a race watch next year.

Event comments:

I will run even more for next years race. Shooting for 1:25 or better next year.

Congrats! Way to push through with the cramps and all. I was there too. The triangle swim made the swim from the last buoy to shore interesting. I too was swimming to the shore and had to correct to get more on line to the beach exit.

Cheers!
