I am back in the gym after a month layoff from dislocated ribs. I feel my abs again. I forgot the thrill of pain. I know it will pass but it seems like I am always nursing some sort of twinge every few weeks.

DO you ever get tired of being sore?

No.  I enjoy the soreness.  It's a reminder of all the hard work I'm doing.  Granted, I don't lift weights much, so my soreness is usually a mix between fatigue and soreness, but the effect is the same.

Interesting post.  I have wonder about the issue of fatigue and soreness.  I sitting here on Sunday morning after a hard 65 mile ride yesterday that I went hard on.  I am a little sore and fatigued.  But I am going again at 7 on another 50 or so ride this morning followed by a run and swim.   I enjoy it and feel like the last post that I know I am getting my body ready for an IM in Nov.  More pain (reasonable) in practice is less on race day!

Being sore is on the greatest parts of working out, training, racing, etc. for me. I love the feeling, and actually, since I've been working out consistently for over 6 years now - its really tough for me to get really "sore" anymore, even when I do heavy weight training, I just can't seem to get myself as sore as I used to and I miss it!

True that!!! Now if I've been really training hard, it's not necessarily soreness and more a "whole body tiredness".

I don't mind the muscle aches and wander twinges around my body.  However, I get tired of the whole body fatigue.  Even after really hard work outs, once I have recovered form the immediate tiredness, I can get around and do the usual routines very well and feel good.  But if I sit down for a minute to read a mag or watch some TV, my body screams "Go to sleep!"

I get tired of not ever really feeling like I get enough sleep.

I get more freaked out when I'm not sore.  It's telling me I either slacked off or I need to get my butt out on the bike.
