I'm excited to see KathyG is going to be there, because I will be as well! I did Ironman Coeur d'Alene in June, and I'm looking forward to bigger and better things in Florida next November! Can't wait to get training again.

I got in!  I started at 1:00(est) and when I submitted my info it was 1:09.  I was shocked it took nine minutes to answer all those questions.

My friend got all the way to entering her credit card info and when she submitted it there was no response.  She still does not know if she got in.

Good Luck to everyone.  Happy training.

The 'required' questions make me nuts, I just want to get through and get paid, knowing that it can sell out in a matter of minutes.  It seems like they could let you pay, then ask questions.

Congratulations to everyone who made it in though!

We've got a year to get ready, but I predict that it will go by fast.

Anybody know which plan they're going to follow?

You are right, it will go by fast!

I haven't decided on a plan yet, may use the build your own plan here on BT, I used that for this past season and it worked good.  But, before I commit I may look at other options, including some level of coaching.

I'm in for my first full!  Wahooo!  Registered online while in a USAT cert class

I'll be writing my own plan.  I'd be happy to help any of you map out the basics (or details as well).  BT does have several options for subscribing members, but nothing beats a customized map, especially if you have more than 1 race in the year.

Anybody know which plan they're going to follow?

I'm still not sure.  I did the race in 2010 (my first 140.6) and did 11:41.  I would like to go under 11:30 and close to 11:15 so I think I need to find 15-20 minutes on the run.  Just :30/mile...easy right?.?.?

I did a 1:07 swim, so not much time I can gain there, 18 minutes in transition, which I can probably find 2-3 minutes there and MAYBE cut a few minutes off my bike.  We had great temps in 2010 (I like it cold), but I think it was a little more windy last year than this.

Whatever plan I use I need to make sure it is run focused.  I am a sub 4 hour open marathoner, so not necessarily weak there), but it just seems like my biggest opportunity for gain.

Hey that would be helpful!!!!

I started with Tri's training on Jan 11, and have compited in 3 oly's and yesterday my first HIM, and since started in Jan, I have had no rest. I don't feel tired or fatigued, but I know I will need to have a pause, but with my scheduled races I just don't know when: Houston Marathon (first marathon) in mid Jan, and Galveston 70.3 in April. Then only focus on IMFL.

Any suggestion?

Hey all - I'm very interested to learn about some of the different training plans out there.  I did a HIM and a Oly distance race last year without any plan, and all things considered did ok.  Now that I've signed up for a full IM, I think I'll need more planning.

And from a coaching standpoint, has anybody worked with an 'online' coach?  How does that compare to a local coach?

Imiranda, If you logged your workouts here on BT it would be easy to look and see what kind of volume you do and what kind of pattern you're following.

Lacking that I can only say that for my first IM, I pretty much trained for two years with a fairly steady build, although I slacked off a bit the winter preceding the IM.  Mostly though listen to your body, and don't increase too fast

BT is a great place to keep up with your training, and the graphs and analytical tools that are available are pretty handy.    Also then it's easy for other BT'ers to see what you've done when you have a question about your training.

I used the Beginner Half IM Plan for Gulf Coast this year, it was a good plan and I finished in 6:20, which is good for me. I am planning on the using the Beginner Full IM Plan for IMFL. It was great to have the support of others using the same plan!

Congratulations on getting in your first IM.

I was going to use a program by Don Fink which is based on all time and heart rate training.

I am very interested in what others are using because I what to do well in my first IM as well.

What type of programing are you writing for yourself? Thanks in advance.

So I just purchased a community foundation slot for 2012.  Had a solid race in 2011 and goal is to push down into the 10s for 2012.

Signed up on site - IN!  2012 - first IM.  Let the fun begin.  I have a coach I am using here locally in MI to develop my plan.  I travel so much that I need more guidance than a standard plan.

So excited!

Congrats to all of you who signed up for 2012. IMFL 2011 was my first. I did not sign up for next year due a promise I made to my wife, but I did enjoy the experience of chasing the dream to become an Ironman. I would certainly entertain the thought of competing in a 140.6 again.

For all you first timers, it seems like yesterday that I was experiencing the same kinds of emotions you are experiencing now. I was very excited and very nervous. There was a lot of self-doubt about making the distance, but I was very much looking forward to the challenge.

This next year will be one of the longest years you will experience due to the heavy volume of training and the constant anticipation for November. However, in a twist of irony, it will seem like it all flew by so fast once the race is over.

Come the first Saturday in November you will spend up to 17 hours trying to achieve your goal. That day will be a long day but when compared to the numbers of hours in a year those 17 hours or less will just be a blip on the radar.

My advice to you is not to wish this year away. Enjoy every minute of training. Embrace the new friendships that are created. Celebrate the many new milestones reached. Becoming an Ironman may be measured by how well you do in one race on one day, but it is truly the journey that should be celebrated.

Good luck to each of you. I look forward to following your journey.

Its been a good while since I've posted here on BT. Mainly been laying low for a while after a somewhat disappointing tri season this past year. However, I was one of the lucky few and at my computer at exactly 1 pm est to register for Florida. IM #3, first time at Florida.

I think the focus is going to a bit more intense this year, as I kinda didn't really have the funds to sign up this year, but didn't want to miss out on a race that was so close to home. I finally have a power meter, so I hope this will be the help I really need in dialing in my bike skills. That, along with daily running ala BarryP, I think will set me up nicely for a strong build to Florida next year.

I hope that everyone has a great time on this journey and I look forward to watching everyone progress towards their goal. Remember, the race starts now!
