Total Time = 1h 22m 13s
Overall Rank = 52/99
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 10/15
Pre-race routine:

Drove in from Baton Rouge. Up at 4:00am, only got 5 hours sleep and 4.5 hours the night before that. Banana, rice krispie and gatorade on the 2 hour ride there.
Event warmup:

Easy 0.5 run to the bathroom and back. Short 50 yard swim before the start.
Swim
  • 12m 18s
  • 700 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was my best leg today. Felt good the entire swim, never uncomfortable. Probably could have pushed a little harder. Drafted two guys for most of the swim.
What would you do differently?:

More swim training. Leave draft sooner and push it the last 200.
Transition 1
  • 00m 26s
Comments:

Fastest T1 of the race, can't complain. This is the only thing I do well.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 45m 48s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Have been mainly mountain biking, so I knew this would not go well. Had hoped to hold 20 mph. Was there at the turn-around, but legs were heavy from mountain biking the day before and lack of sleep.
What would you do differently?:

Get more sleep the nights before and not mountain bike the day before. Tri is not my focus this year, so haven't been riding on the road much.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

8th fastest T2, can't complain.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 23m 9s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 09m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was hot. Held on to a 9:00 pace as long as I could. Got very overheated in the last mile. After the finish, I went straight to the water to cool off.
What would you do differently?:

Run more. Haven't been running but 4-5 miles per week. No mileage equals no speed.
Post race
Warm down:

Jumped in the water to cool off. Drank some gatorade, water and ate some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of tri training.

Event comments:

T-Gator is what it is. A cheap low-key race for fun. Volunteers are few and there are no awards. Keeps the price down, which is fine by me. Don't need another t-shirt and race packet with nothing in it.
