Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 30/34
Pre-race routine:

Early start since race start at 6:30 and about an hour drive. Ate on the road, 1 cup of coffee
Swim
  • 09m 56s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pool start. Was not too chaotic during the swim as plenty of room between lane lines. Some bunching at turns. The worst part was the line up for the start. Based on numbers but people were all over the place.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, typical swim for me.
Transition 1
  • 03m 40s
Comments:

Was pretty far away from the bike out portion of the transition area. Ran with the bike. A little dizzy.
What would you do differently?:

Need to think about earplugs on the swim
Bike
  • 55m 6s
  • 15 miles
  • 16.33 mile/hr
Comments:

One one hand was first race with the clipless pedals and I did better than my Tri last month. There were some hills that still wreck me. At one point, I got something stuck in front fork making a godawful noise so I had to stop to check out the bike. Lost probably 2 minutes. Turns out was a GEL pack someone had discarded. Still not hitting times I hit last year in some races.
What would you do differently?:

More trainging esp on hills. More time in Aero
Transition 2
  • 03m 36s
Comments:

Was first time had to change from bike shoes so did ok I think.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 48m 44s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 15m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Was bad. Had my hurt ankle and it was acting up a bit. Also they ran out of water on the run and I was HOT. I still am not improving and it's really discouraging.
What would you do differently?:

In hindsight I probably should not have raced as my ankle is really hurting me now.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretch and walk around

Event comments:

I'm glad I did this race but they have lots to work on. First, there was ZERO communication leading up to the event from the organizers. Second, there were 4 water stops on the bike which is NUTS for a Sprint and only 1 on the RUN. That 1 on the RUN ran out of water, when it was probably most needed.

i agree re: water on the bike stops.  i wasn't going to stop on my bike for water- i'd never be able to get back on!!  definitely needed more water on the run, but was grateful for people who were out watering their lawn giving me a spray!
