I'm in - I always feel like it's so close to my house how can I not support this race? Definitely have lost some speed, but looking forward to a great race!

I'm in - 5 minutes from the house...... one of the few races where my support section (family) is a definite.

Good luck to all!

GordyP - 2011-07-12 2:08 PM +1 Clydesdale & with a new bike course,should be faster Laughing

It's definitely a faster course as they took out the more technical section that goes into the neighborhood.  It has more U-turns now, but the straight sections are longer.

Anybody know whether they are keeping the same run course?  The link on their website only shows the bike course.

I just saw that too.....I disliked the winding thru the neighborhood. Looks to be a lot flatter too without the neighborhood. The u-turns could throw a kink into the speed....and the bunching up. Should be a fun ride though (...even though I'm out of shape for it).

Once we do packet pick-up, I'll post my bib so we can all try to say hi to each other before the race.

Didn't notice the new bike course until you mentioned it! The u-turns on Alma are probably faster since it'll be a wider turn (using median crossing) and Alma is a wider road than those odd turns and that tight cone we had in the neighborhood-

I'm kinda wondering how this will play out with the area since traffic really used to back up at the Alma crossing before. I can't imagine that this will be anything short of a cluster for traffic with a lane gone on Alma each way for a stretch and now with two crossings to back up traffic. Be watchful, cars can get impatient!

There never seem to be any issues with the run course so I'm guessing it's the same (I hope so - I like it!)

Picked up my packet tonight and I hate to say it, but I'm a bit disappointed with the shirt.  It seems really cheap compared to previous shirts and I can practically see through it already.  You'd think they could at least get a name brand shirt with the guarantee of selling this thing out every year.  It's not like they would have to eat the cost on any leftovers. On top of that, the Aggie color is not appealing at all to non A&M folks.  Sorry, had to rant a little bit.

Oh well, hope the race is run well like it has been in the past.  Should be a great event and it is right around the corner, so easy logistics for me on race day.

Good luck everyone!  I'm number 198 - say hello as you fly past me on the course.

I'm a bit worried about the change in management so I'm hoping that they keep up the good reputation of the race.

lovely Aggie colors on the shirts.....like the aqua color the volunteers were wearing better. Maybe I can find one after the race and trade.

And the anouncer says......
Rolling up big.....entering the water with his patented trademarked flailing stroke. Do not try to rescue if he looks like he's drowning, because that's just how he swims......NUMBER 99.....Brad Donovan!!!!!!!

See y'all tomorrow! Should be fun.....no training, haven't swam since Galveston, about 10 total run miles, and about 10 hours total on the bike. Yup....."fun".
