Current Water Temp is 88.0 degrees at Stumpy Creek!  After the 100 degree air temps today, looks like it may be a hot tub on Saturday morning.

It was 90.9 at 3:30 yesterday.  The good thing is that the fish will already be cooked.  Just grab one to eat instead of a gel!

I'm all about some warm water temps.  I'll take it over the 62 degree swim I did in April.

At least the high temp Saturday is only going to be 84.  It will feel downright chilly coming out of the bath er, I mean lake water.

If you haven't checked them out already, here are links to the course maps.  The run looks tough!

(run map is not exactly right but you get the gist)

Setup posted water temp of 88.

Have heard this isn't the most fun run course.  lot of turns, two loops and a big hill that you hit twice.

The run course is tough.  There's 2 hills that kill the legs. The 1st hill isn't too bad but you hit it near the beginning of Stumpy Creek Loop which is right out of T2.  The 2nd hill is much worse and it's the upper half of Liva Lane. It's a 2 loop course so you get to enjoy both hills twice.

Overall it's a great race and the competition is faster than what you normally find at Tri Latta or Lake Norman.

I did ride down Carmel on Thursday from 6:05ish to 6:20ish so that was probably me.  I do think I remember a guy running with his dog as well!

Do you ever ride with the ride that starts at Carmel and Colony?

Good luck to everyone racing at Stumpy Creek and Ballantyne this weekend. The weather looks perfect. My wife is racing Ballantyne so I'll be there with the kids to cheer you all on!

86.7 as of 10:41am today.  A little better than mid-90's.

Last summer, Lake Wylie had water temperatures around 98 for a while.  Wasn't even enjoyable when out riding my SuperJet.

I have not done the 5:15 bike group yet.  Still don't have a headlight but looking to get one in coming weeks (REI has some on clearance).  Friday is probably the only day I could do it though.  Wife runs at 5am on Tue/Thu and I run at 5 on Wednesdays.  They always have a big crowd though when I see them on Wednesday mornings.

So how did everyone do?  I had the worst swim of life.  Sprained my ankle wednesday and hurt my knee today over-compensating for the ankle, and had almost the longest T2 in the race (had too pee like nobody's business)  Hooray?  Well, Hooray Beer!

There was some wicked good competition out there today!  Probably the fastest top to bottom results of any of the ISOS races.

Great conditions for a july race, we sure got lucky in that regard.  My race complaint is that there was some SERIOUS drafting going on by some of the 40-45 AG and only 1 got a penalty.  The only post race complaint I have is the selling of the burgers and hot dogs.  Really?  My fee won't cover some hot dogs?  Didn't see a single person buy one, plus my money was 300 yards away and wasn't going to get it.

The weather was great today.  The heat was worse at OTM this year. With the 110 heat index the week before I was worried about this weekend. I too wasn't digging the cash food bar at the end of the race. The beans and rice weren't bad for a overcast 70 degree day though.

I missed the last bouy on the swim, I saw that blow up dancing thing from the 1400 and made a beeline to get out of the lake.

Hooray beer.  cheers.

I'm going to have to defend Set Up Events on this one........when Papa Bear Catering is on site (that's who was at Stumpy Creek and is always at White Lake) the hot dogs and red beans and rice are free to competitors.  I will say that Set Up doesn't do a good job of getting the word out, though.  I don't even remember how or when I figured this out.  I think it was at White Lake earlier this year or maybe last year.
