I’m almost out of CO2 cartridges and I need to get some new ones. The only threaded ones that I seem to be able to find locally are 16g. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that 16g cartridges will overinflate a 650c tube, which is what I’m running on my tri bike.
Is that right? Do I need to shop around for 12g?

Just stop inflating before the tire is overful.

I would suggest getting an inflator that handles nonthreaded cartridges, then buy the 12g ones Walmart sells for paintball guns. A lot cheaper in the long run.

Well…duh.

There’s a pretty fine line between full and overfull and in the middle of a race I’d prefer not to rely on the squeeze test if I can avoid it. It would be easier to know that I can just discharge the whole canister into the tire without worrying about a blowout.
