Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4 - showered. Left at 4:30.
Swim
  • 13m 11s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 38s / 100 meters
Comments:

Very nice conditions but I wasn't positioned correctly for the start. First pair of goggles fell apart at the start so I used my spare pair.
What would you do differently?:

Consider a wetsuit - I won't be as scared to be aggressive if I have padding.
Transition 1
  • 03m 41s
Comments:

In a word: cluster**** Had my area set up completely backwards and it slowed me down terribly.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transition before!!! Pay attention to how the bick is racked vs whenre my shoes are. Also, don't clip your race numbber closed BEFORE, you dope! Then there's no struggle to UNLCIP it to put it on.
Bike
  • 25m 37s
  • 8 miles
  • 18.74 mile/hr
Comments:

Got stuck behind someone in the mount area who couldn't clip in...grrrr...
What would you do differently?:

Realized part of the way in that I was in the second ring but I think that worked to my benefit as I kept my cadence high the whole time.
Transition 2
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

See T1 comments...dammit
Run
  • 35m 41s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 10m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

Got hot towards the end...no sunglesses sucked big time.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall time: 1:18:50 ( just over a minute slower than last year)

Swim: 13:11
T1: 3:41 (heinous - had my spot set up completely wrong)
Bike: 25:37
T2: 1:32
Run: 34:51

I could have totally shaved almost a minute off my T1 time with more practice beforehand (preventable) and I would have saved maybe 10 - 15 seconds off my bike time - the person in front of me in the bike mount area couldn't clip in so I had to wait for her (not preventable). All in all it was a fantastic race. I feel really good at the end (which means i probably could have pushed a little harder) and feel well prepared to keep it up for the reaminder of the season.
