Pre-race routine:

Worked at Tim Hortons until 12:00 Am, went to bed and I was able to get 2 hours of sleep. Woke up at 3:00am, had a toasted bagel with peanut butter at guess where....Tim Hortons of course. Arrived, racked my bike, watched the ironman swim, stretched a little, went to the bathroom and off I went.

Comments:

Felt fairy well most of the way, probably could have gaven it quite a bit more that I did. I was actually quite worried because in the 2 weeks since cometing in Brockville I hadn't much of an opporotunity to train.
What would you do differently?:

Quicken the pace

Comments:

This was probably the worst thing I did all day and that was that I had lost my bike....lol. And I ended up wasting 2 min trying to find it.
What would you do differently?:

Remember where I put my bike

Comments:

My bike was absolutly pathetic, probably because with the lack of training since Brockville, where I suffered a nasty crash and wasn't able to fix my bike 2 days before the race. Overall I was hoping to be in the top 10 at least, but alas it wasn't be
What would you do differently?:

Don't crash my bike prior to the race.
Transition 2

Comments:

Got lost exiting tranzition wasted another 2-3 minutes, it was just such a cluttered mess and no one was there to point me in the right direction
What would you do differently?:

scout out the area before hand

Comments:

Had an awful awful 5 k, again due to lack of training. It's really hard to explain I just had nothing left in the tank, just had to shuffle my way along. Once again very dissapointing
What would you do differently?:

Train more
Post race
Warm down:

Crossed the finish line then sat down on the beach with my Mom and stretched a little

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training

Event comments:

I'am definently more motivtated than ever to do my best and will be working my a$$ off in the coming weeks to improve my run, and be consistant on he bike

Hey there Gord!

Congratulations! You did it!

Yeah, the transition zone WAS a mess.  I was very lucky to get there early enough to get an end spot.

It was great meeting you on Saturday.  Make sure you do K-Town Tri next year!! It's always on the August long weekend and it rocks! Sign up early though....unless you are doing the du...I don't think it fills up quite as fast.  I signed up for the short course tri in May and it was completely full by mid June.

Hey Gord, that is amazing that you worked until midnight, got only 2 hours sleep and still managed to do a duathlon!!!  It was nice meeting you that day.  Congratulations on a good race ... :-)
