Came across this article in on newsday .com.. Read the comments that these Long Islanders are posting. They have no love for Bikers! Support your fellow bikers post back......

We are our worst enemy.  Have you ever ridden with some of the clubs on LI?  It is unbelievable what a large group will do.  I was planning on riding the Gold Coast this weekend, but may stay home.  Let this blow over.

Unfortunately SOME drivers don't care about bikers or runners. I get idiots that think it is funny or just brain dead to do a drive by within inches whether I'm biking or doing my runs. I must say though that there are courteous drivers out there also though to balance the idiots.

I had an idiot driver honk at me while driving through Eisnehower Park because I was actually doing 40 and giving space to a fellow biker that was riding on the roadway.

I think that as a group drivers on Long Island just dont want to slow down for anything in the way. I drive all day and the speeding is a problem even thru quiet streets they go 55 and 60. I dont like biking on the roads anymore, so many drivers just dont pay attention or they are on the phone or texting. just not safe walking or riding
