At the start, my goggles were leaking again. I had to turn over on my back and kick while I drained them and tightened them some. They were fine after wards. I settled in to a pace and felt fine. I held back on the first half of the course because I had not swum this distance in a long time. I wanted to finish strong. I found a nice draft and stuck with it. There was a line of people behind me doing the same thing.

At about the half way point, I was having some serious sighting issues. I lost mrhythmum because keepetryingng to sight. They did not have near enough buoys. I went a little wide, but not bad. At one point a women pulled beside me and was moving well. I slowed up to take her draft and saw she had fins on! LOL. She cheats, so was I cheating by drafting her fins? I did not care. All in fun.

The finish push was not smooth. buoys by the dam were hard to see plus it was a little choppy. I sighted buoys and almost cut the course. This mistake cost me some time.

Once I got lined up for the final push, I just told myself...four beat kick all the way home, not stopping the kick or slowing up, 4 beat, 4 beat. I actually slowed up the stroke and put some glide into finishing each one all the way.

Actually put some WOs in before the race would be a great start!

No warm down...hung out with Bethany and some ATC people and watch the 1K race come in.


They blew this race by not having enough buoys. Add some more in and you have a great event.
