Depending on how I feel, I'm thinking that Cultas Lake will be my only option for a tri this year if I stay injury free.

My choice will be the sprint but looking at the times from last year, I guessing part of the course is challenging and/or the distances are off. I saw that in 09 there was a 55/59 y/o that did just over 15 min. for the run (impressive/sick) but overall most bike times seemed slower for a 20k distance.

Also hoping that one weekend prior to the race I'll be able to go there and ride the course.... would be nice if anyone that's familiar with the area is open to help me navigate the road.

Hey Paul,

Completed the sprint in this race last year and had fun. Rainy conditions made for a slippery bike course and tough going on the run but the swim section is nice. Doesn't look like you'll have any problems with weather this year though.

Good luck!

Welcome to BT spike.. Thread's almost a year old, so I'm not sure who you'll be seeing there this year, but good luck on your first tri..

Hi,

This will be my first tri as well, I am planning on signing up for the Sprint, but is anyone else concerned or have you heard of "Swimmers Itch" before?

I've been swimming in Cultus lake since June, and no swimmers itch for me so far.  A couple of years ago it was really bad, but this year seems to be fine/mild.

Myself and several of my friends have swum in Cultus for the past 5 years and never had an itch problem.

Hey Guys,

thanks for your reply, race day was perfect, an overcast morning with the sun just coming out at the 2 hour mark of the race,

I finished the Sprint just under 2:10, almost last position but I could not have been happier to finish my first triathlon!

Thanks!
