Pre-race routine:

Up early, had honey nut o's and orange juice for breakfast. Packed up and headed to race from the hotel, with a teammate from TriDivas. Set up transition had a couple of shotblocks. Made a couple of potty stops, then headed down to the water.
Event warmup:

Swam out in the water a little bit, got my head wet
Swim
  • 33m 22s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Nice swim, kind of got off course a little bit, ran into a few more swimmers than usual, was passing people from 1st wave, but got passed a lot on the "run" up the beach to transition.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out how to run up a beach to transition, as I was walking all that time.
Transition 1
  • 04m 25s
Comments:

Got some nutrition in and got aero helmet on okay, without squishing my ears.
What would you do differently?:

go faster, duh.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 29s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.24 mile/hr
Comments:

I DIDN'T CRASH!!! That was my main goal, as I crashed on the ride here last year. Was able to maintain a higher average speed. Wore my aero helmet for the first time. Was fun, kept waiting for one of my friends to pass me on the bike (she is primarily a cyclist), but she never did.
What would you do differently?:

Again, try to go faster, duh.
Transition 2
  • 04m 28s
Comments:

Slower than T1, had a bit of time to put on five fingered shoes. Took a drink and took off.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster, duh.
Run
  • 1h 27m 38s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 14m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Devised a plan and stuck with it until the last mile or so. Ran 1 minute, walked 1 minute. This is a vast improvement over last year when I probably only ran about 400 yards and my time was about 25 minutes faster this year. Ironnewsman Chris Schauble (KTLA5 morning news anchor) passed me near the turnaround on the run, he was finishing as I was getting ready to start my second lap.
What would you do differently?:

Try to run more. go faster, duh.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked over and talked to my coach and teammates.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not running as much as I am suppose to.

Event comments:

Fun, it was nice to be able to finish while the finish line was still up and there were people in the expo. It was also great to have friends/teammates racing with me this time. Knocked almost an hour off my time from last year. Way to go me!!!
