Swim
Comments: This was a nice beach swim for not being in a harbor or a protected cove or anything. I got a little bit of drift going out and a bit more going back in but I figured I was a faster runner than swimmer so I didn't try to buck the current and swim back to the swim exit...I just got out down the beach 50 yards and ran back up. Nice warm water and simple course...no dog legs or weird parallelograms. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: This was a beautiful course...beach and sand dunes, then trees and strawberry fields, then harbor and then more beach. I loved it. The road was a bit gravelly and muddy at times with trucks coming out of the strawberry fields but overall I'd ride it every day if I lived there. Transition 2
Run
Comments: was getting a little warm but the people from the beach houses were out watching and cheering and spraying hoses so that was nice. Very flat and fast course. I wished I'd gone a little harder but it worked out ok. Post race
Event comments: Overall a great race. I'm probably gonna make this a staple even though there were a lot of fast people in this race. It's at a good time of the year and it's low key and flat and generally a very fun race. It was great having my sister run it with me and her friend, and my older sister and her husband and our parents to cheer us along. This is a very spectator friendly course. Two loops on the bike means two sightings and the way the run was laid out with two laps and a two loop backs it worked out to like 6 run sightings. Very fun day. Plus a big box of Strawberries as the post race fruit (for those of us who don't like bananas). Last updated: 2011-05-13 12:00 AM

Stayed the night at a friend of my sister's beach house so we would be close. Got up at 5 and had a bagel with peanut butter and started sipping Gatorade.
Walked from the sprint start to the Olympic start ;-) ...I did get into the water just to see and it was nice and warm so no worries there.
