Still over a month away.  Anyone else doing this event?

I am not planning on doing it this year. I have raced it two or three times before. Don't know if you have ever raced it, but I would say to do some hill work on the bike. They aren't the biggest hills, but there are a couple different stretches that have back-to-back hills.

Thanks.  I've been working on hills all summer so hopefully I'll be good.  Sorry you're not going to race it.  This will be my second tri and the first event since I was injured 2 months ago.  Very excited!  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I know you are excited. Congrats on getting the all clear from the doctor.

Cedars is fun. I would love to do it, but it doesn't really fit into my IM Florida training plan.

I know you did the ADPi. Cedars is similar on the swim (pool swim but a 50 yard pool opposed to a 25 yard pool), and the run is fairly flat with the exception of one decent hill at the turn around. Your injury may be a blessing in disguise because your extra bike training will really pay off on this course.

You have to be careful the last couple miles on the bike. The road needs a good paving. I would suggest training on the course prior to the race. There is not too much traffic so it is a fairly safe place to train.

Thanks JT.  I plan to hit the routes in the next few weeks.  Keep up the awesome work!

I'm in.  Have raced it the last 3 years.  Always enjoy that race.  Except for the last 2 miles of the bike.  Get your registration in.... on 8/3 it goes up to $75.

Worst bike course ever. Seriously, you need a mountain bike the last 3 miles or so. I like my TT bike and my spine too much to do this one every again.

Interesting you mention using my MTB.  I have to use my MTB now.  I was hit by a truck last Thursday morning while out riding and my road bike is trash.  I'm putting road slicks on my MTB and using it.  Thanks for your help.

Is the driver's insurance not paying for it? Or do the police have to prove who the driver was before the insurance gets involved?

They caught the guy but it'll be a few months before court.  I'm waiting to contact his insurance company until I decide how to proceed with my options.  In the meantime, I'm without a bike.

I still like this race for some reason.  Was cramping badly on the run last year and still pulled 7/30-something in AG.  Really stoked for it this year!

Pretty much back to 100%.  It's been a rough rookie season in triathlon for me.  I'm sooooooo looking forward to the next several weeks finally getting to do more events.  As you know, the road rash hurts the worse.

I'll be doing it as my first tri.  I have targeted a tri in October but training has been going great and a buddy of mine is doing this one and it'd be good to have someone with experience there with me before I really go for it in October.  I'm really excited (still trying to track down the right bike for me to buy).

Good luck.  This will be my second triathlon.  I did a bike/run brick yesterday on the routes.  HILLS!  A lot tougher than I thought.

I'm going to be there and have some extra road bikes you could choose from.  If you are interested, what size are you?

thanks JeffY.  I think a MTB is the way to go anyway with the last 2+ miles being heavy road acne.  I doubt I would have ridden my road bike anyway.  The lower gears on the MTB are actually  nice to have with the hills.  Not going to be as fast.....but I'll manage.  Just glad to be competing again.  Hope to see you there.

I placed 10th out of 37 in my AG (m 45 - 49).  I can live with that.
