I did the international last year without a wetsuit - did not own one yet.  I will be wearing a sleeveless if legal this year for the half.

Velo, thank for the info.  I didn't think they would or could use them in the zoo, I was more interested in whether or not they could ride them between the start/finish/transition area and the entrance to the zoo.  I'm afraid that if they have to wait on a trolley to take them from the zoo back to the finish area, they will miss me finishing.  90 minutes between trips seems a little excessive.  I was hoping they could watch the start, the first lap of the swim, and T1 then go to the zoo for awhile, catch me on the run at a few places in the zoo than make it back for the finish.

hey Velo - is there going to be a problem with me riding at 16-17 mph average and running at 10-11 minute miles for the international distance?  I haven't been training much!

How did everyone do? I had an unbelievable race today. 6:27:10. My first HIM finish and...I won my division! Under 39 Clydesdale's 225+ lbs.

i didn't win my category but was happy with my race!  65th percentile overall in the international (olympic), 18mph on the bike and 9 minute miles!  Not bad for a bike I bought the day before, rode for 10 minutes, then had to check in!  Was also my first time on a tri bike, definitely a different experience!  Congrats to everyone!

I'm curious - how did everyone like running through the zoo? I was there with my family (not racing - not volunteering) and it seemed like there was no clear path for the runners. I'm just curious what it felt like as a runner?

The wind really killed me - next HIM I will definitely have areobars! My run suffered too.  Thought I could hit around 6 hrs, but ended up at 6:39.  Oh well, it was still a great race and I learned a lot.

I didn't have any problem with dodging people in the zoo.  There was some zig zagging, but nothing that really bothered me - the lack of shade at various points was much more troubling.

All in all a good race, but my legs are definitely letting me know they worked hard today

Congrats to all!!!!

congrats everyone, my training partner from Florida won men 25-29 so I was really pumped for him in his first HIM.  I may try to fly down next year for this one.
