Subject: OWS Locations - Chicago Westen Suburbs

Anyone got any decent spots to swim in the western suburbs?  Or anywhere that isn't downtown really...I love the Oak Street swim, but it's usually not convenient for me to get down there, at all.

Just looking for some reasonably clean water and safety from boats.

This is a great question I've never been smart enough to ask - I'd like to know as well!  

My first thought was to look at smaller tris in the area but most of those are held in pools, etc.  The closest in a body of water is Oswego which isn't really convenient.

I've done a couple OWS's in the Chain of Lakes...in a specific low-traffic bay early in the morning.  That's not usually convenient for me either though, so I'm looking for more spots.

You could try Naperville at Centennial Beach. It is a concrete structure, like a pool, but I think it might be fed by river water? It's been over a year since I have been there, so I'm not sure.

I also just did a tri in Lake Zurich a few weeks ago - but I'm not sure what the swimming policy is.
