Swim
Comments: The race started out fine, my first 200-400 m was great, catching a huge draft. The second half of the course, I fell apart and I think this is what really cost me a ton of time. I need to build up my swim endurance. Managed to salvage a PR for this swim course. Transition 1
Comments: They need to make the transitions much much more fair. I had to run nearly 3 times the distance as some people in transition. For instance, the guy who won had a 28 second transition. My time was probably about that, but with an extra 10 seconds of running all the way to the edge and back to the middle. This is my biggest complaint abou this course. 5/23 AG What would you do differently?: Nothing I can do about it really. My transitions have stagnated and I can't go much faster. Bike
Comments: Went out hard on this, and ussually my legs get back under me. The heat did me in, and I burned way too much energy trying to stay in the race. The entire bike hurt. My legs never felt right from the very start, and while I managed to push through on the bike, I paid for it dearly in the run. I did manage to set a PR for this course and my triathlon carreer with the first bike split over 24 mph! What would you do differently?: Slow down a little in this heat. Transition 2
Comments: Not much to improve on here either... The same problem with the rack positioning. 2/23 AG What would you do differently?: nada Run
Comments: I laid a huge goose egg here. I spent to many pennies on the bike. Mentally, I had given us after running a 7:30 first mile when I had been running 6:20 miles for my sprint tris earlier in the year. I never got my head back on straight, and my legs never responded, so I just went out and fried on the course. oh well. I was hoping to go sub 20, which would have brought my total time down to around 1:06, which is where I thought I would be at. My running has slightly backed off as well, so I need to buckle down on that some more. I had to walk quite a bit, and like I said, I never really got going. What would you do differently?: Turn down the heat.... Post race
Warm down: walk around, drink a ton of water Oh well, I get to do the same course in a month, so we'll see how that one goes. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat, being a crappy swimmer still, and not running enough..... Last updated: 2011-01-21 12:00 AM
