Subject: This weekend's My first/My next/Bigfoot triathlons cancelled

Having done one of their races several years ago, I'm glad to see that this company's safety record has finally come back to bite them in the bum. Too bad for the racers... but fortunately, there are lots of other good (not to mention TriBC sanctioned) races out there to choose from to finish off the season.

Court orders cancellation of August 6 Bigfoot Triathlons

HARRISON MILLS - All triathlons in the Bigfoot Triathlon Festival
scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 in Harrison Mills are cancelled.

Safety is the Ministry of Transportations and Infrastructure's highest
priority. The event organizers did not have plans in place to ensure the
safety of motorists, athletes and spectators and the event had to be
cancelled.

The organizer was notified on Tuesday, Aug. 2 that the court order
requires that the event be cancelled and entrants notified by email by
Wednesday, Aug. 3.

Aha! A brilliant solution by the race organizer, as reported by the Vancouver Sun this evening: When you've got a court order forcing the cancellation of your race, disobey it and run it anyway at a new, undisclosed location. That's sure to instill confidence in the racers.
