Pre-race routine:

Up early-5:30 am to shower and shave (not sure why I like to shower before a race) Fast food breakfast. I do ok with that as long as it is light and 2 hours or more before the start
Event warmup:

light jogging, some strides, high stepping and port a potty repeats

Comments:

A pretty good run and well organized. This is a variation of my very first 5k 1 year ago-same sponsor, same announcer same general area, slightly modified course. Last year I did it in like 36 minutes, I wanted to come back and do better and I did-24:15 is a 5k PR for me
What would you do differently?:

Pace a little better at the start. I got caught up with the ubber fast and faded too much. Perhaps a Garmin or something that gives me quicker pace data than waiting for the mile signs

wet/cool towels, watermelon, pacing about etc

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too quick a start

Event comments:

Lots going on at this race-vendors, free watermelon! etc. It is hot though and I bailed before the real heat set in

mile 1-7:13, 2-7:54, 3-8:25, .1-:43 Started a bit too fast on mile one. My goal was to break 24 minutes. If I had held a 7:30 or 7:40 at mile one I might not have faded like I did
