Swim
  • 15m 51s
  • 700 meters
  • 02m 16s / 100 meters
Comments:

brutal sighting was all over the place again. Need to sight better and stay in a pack of people. Start was a little rough
What would you do differently?:

sight better, pick up pace for last 200m
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

put on bike shoes and ran in them. was a little dicy but overall okay. long run to transition and from bike rack to mounting line
What would you do differently?:

get more sand off my feet
Bike
  • 38m 19s
  • 20 kms
  • 31.32 km/hr
Comments:

course was out and back around a 90 degree corners 4x. the corner was a big problem because of the speed differences between the cyclists. some screamed through some slowed to a crawl. Had to jam on brakes in two of the corners due too erratic bikers.Hammered out of corners to get back up to speed but that took a lot of energy
What would you do differently?:

hard to say, I think the bike course sucked. legs were pretty tired due to biking 160km on Friday (dont do that before big A race!) Bike faster
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

slow on the transition for some reason. lost focus. should have had a water bottle for a quick boost at transition
What would you do differently?:

bring throw away water bottle to leave transition with
Run
  • 26m 24s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 17s  min/km
Comments:

cant drink out of the cups without walking. ended up spitting it out and coughing at the first water station. Walked at the second and drank a bit but didnt want walk so poured it down my back. legs felt fine after bike. broken toe was sore which slowed me down a bit. should have been a bit faster
What would you do differently?:

either learn to drink from a cup or bring a water bottle
Post race
Warm down:

quick dip in lake to cool down. drank water bottle + red bull. slow bike home 7km

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I am not athletic, no taper, swimming all over the frigging lake

Event comments:

good race nice set up but the bike course has a lot to be desired. Because it is so short (5km) there is a lot of congestion in the 2 90 degree corners. Jockeying for position before the corner, getting through then back up to speed took a lot of time. The potential for an accident is high in these areas.

hey good job. The swim is always a tough one. It seems to me that most people have a tough time sighting and everyone is off in every direction. The more you do it the better you get.

Good job though
