Hi there,

I'm quite new to this - my exercise/training that I've done for anything has been disjointed so far, and I'm going to start with the Beginner program (I need to drop some pounds and baby my chronic foot problem). I ran my first 5K this May, and then kind of stopped becuase I didn't know what to do after that. I'd love to be able to do a triathalon next summer. I know it's a bit of a lofty goal, but this seems like a great place to start.

I'm admittedly a little intimidated as I read some of the posts in this section, but you've got to start somewhere, right? Here goes 'nuthin! :-)

Hi, welcome to BT and triathlon! Congrats on your 5K!

Don't be intimidated ... this place is called beginnertriathlete for a reason.

Also, fear not to post anything or any questions in Triathlon Talk forum. We are here for you!

Welcome aboard! I went from being 40lbs overweight and a couch potato to "completing" sprint triathlons in one year. I've done three so far this summer have three more planned before the end of the season. My goal for next summer is to "compete"! Giood luck with your training!

Welcome! Its always awesome to see new people enter the sport. My dad did Couch-to-5k last summer, and after getting his comfortable 5k running pace down to 28-29 minutes, and being able to run for 6-7 miles straight, he went looking for a little something...

I gave him my hybrid bike, and he hopped back into the pool after a long time (he used to be a life guard), and he's already done 3 tris so far this year, and absolutely loves it. Its a great way to so something fun and healthy, and helps regiment life. Nerve-wracking at first, but a blast once you get the hang of it.

Don't be shy about asking questions... that's what the site is for!
