Never knew Jack was actually from NZ and a cyclist.....

PROVO, UTAH (August 11, 2011) - Jack Bauer (NZL) of Endura Racing sprinted to his first win on American soil with a big push in the final 500 meters at Stage Two presented by Adobe at the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah. In a photo finish, Elia Viviani (ITA) of Liquigas-Cannondale came away with second in today’s exciting finish and American Jake Keough of United Healthcare Pro Cycling placed third. The winners rode the 99.2-mile (159.6 km) rolling course around Utah Lake in 3 hours and 33 minutes, averaging 27.8 miles per hour. For the third day of the six-day stage race, Colombian Sergio Henao of Gobernacion Indeportes Antioquia continues to lead the General Classification.

What the story fails to mention is that he tortured the 2nd and 3rd place finishers for information on where to find the post race food.

I was there at the finish of this race.  I can't believe how crazy fast these riders are.  Coming through the downtown portion of Provo they were pushing 40 mph!  Oh yeah, Bauer won the 100+ mile race while wearing a black long sleeved racing shirt in 93 degree heat...crazy.

The reason for his incredible speed was because the bomb at the finish line only had a couple of seconds left before he cut the red wire and saved the day. A true American hero.
