Subject: 4 weeks til wisco Ironman and had a eye opener this week

With 4 weeks to go I am at the crappie part of training where you just want to race. AS I visualize the race I understand it’s going to be very hard and I am going to end up way back in the pack.  Today  I spent some time at my dad's retirement home. It made me realize that I am very fortunate to even try to do this event.

Absolutely true! Last summer alone I had two friends die of cancer and another two diagnosed with it. I go into each race thankful that I have a body that allows me the ability to participate. Crossing the finish line brings joy, regardless of time.

I work in the ER and am reminded every day how fortunate I am and that tomorrow is not a promise.  Our run in this form is very short and uncertain.  Live it well and keep a smile on your face.  Oh yea, don't forget to let those you love know it clearly.  It really is a hell of a fun ride.
