Event comments:

I would recommend this race to someone who has done a lot mountain biking, but it is not for beginner MTBers. I was thinking pretty hard on Saturday about not finishing on Sunday. But by Saturday evening, I was ready again. The legs didn't feel too bad Sat night, mostly the lower back and where the saddle meets the bum. But a few minutes back on the saddle Sun morning, and it was good to go.

Performance:
Wind: Little
Course: Day 1: Climb-fest, cramped up about 3 hours in, on a climb after getting to the peak, on the way back down. Some parts seemed to be uphill both ways. Backed off the gearing, spun at lower RPMs, so the legs could regenerate. At this point, I had eaten a Cliff bar, and probably 2 Gu gels. Maybe 60 Oz of water. Guess it wasn't enough. Back was also hurting after the first hour, probably due to fitness and all the climbing. Day 2: More technical, less climbing, so I'm off the bike more, the back felt better. Tried Hammer pills for electrolytes, not sure if they worked, took Hammer liquid as well, and some gels. No cramping issues, even on the last 5 mile sprint back along the Wallkill R2T
