Next Saturday will be my first triathlon in Lewisberry...I'm coming in with a few family members, who will also participate, from Philadelphia.

Is anybody else doing this one (or has done it)?  What can you tell me about the course?

Thanks!!

I have not done this race but work with the Race Director and last weekend we held a clinic here.  After the clinic, I road the bike course.

Swim: The lake is really calm and was pretty warm as of last weekend, not sure of the actual temp but felt close to the wetsuit cutoff temp.

Bike: large climb in the first mile and a half.  Nothing too bad but remember to keep some energy for the second time around.  Decent is good and long and can make up some time here, the back side of the course starts uphill sligly and then goes down pretty fast.  At the end of this downhill secion there is a right hand turn that come up pretty fast, be careful making this turn and dont cut it too close to the side of the road, there is a rain storm gait.  Next half of the course is pretty flat, but after you cross over a small bridge, there is a second climb that will again hit your legs pretty hard.  The final part is rolling but overall pretty fast.

Good Luck!

I am doing it but it will only be my second tri I did the Catfish Tri in July. mfeciks' summary of the bike course is spot on the first hill for me is the worse because it has a sharp right turn towards the beginning of it and I tend to lose all momentum. I swam in the lake last wed. it was very warm but you will go through some cold spots that freak me out. I hope to do the run this week I will let you know how it is. From looking at it, it should be flat but I have heard that it can get very muddy.

Thanks for the input, fellas...it has been helpful in allowing me to mentally prepare.

If there is anybody else out there who has done it or is familiar with the course, I'd be interested to hear more...

I was considering doing the olympic. I have yet to do an olympic. But Saturday is when the Harrisburg JCC has a 5K that literally starts and finishes 50 yards from my front down at the end of the block. I'm much more likely to place in my AG at this event. Maybe the elusive olympic will be next year...when I move into the next AG.

Olympic cancelled...I signed up a few months ago and received email from Erin @ TriCat sports that Oly & 70.3 cancelled due to lack of interest....so I signed up for Skipjack in September (cambridge, MD) 1.2 swim, 65 Bike & 10 run! so I guess its a 76.2?!?!  How long does Pintcho allow swimming?

Different races.  Trimax Endurance Sports puts on a sprint/olympic this weekend.  You are referring to the TriCat sports races.

Good luck to everyone this weekend. See you all Sunday for the Olympic. Looks like we could be racing in the rain!

Looks like both races will be on Saturday! Recieved an email from race director stating this due to the Hurricane. This could be interesting with everyone on the course at the same time and in transition.

Anyone know if Olympic run was actually 10k?  My GPS gave me 5.7 - but it notoriously underestimates, especially on runs with thick tree cover like this one.  I thought my run was going pretty badly based on my 1 mile autolap updates, then hit the finish line and realized it had never given me a 6 mile update
