Pre-race routine:

Woke up and got on the road around 4:30 a.m. Had a whole grain English muffin, 6oz. Greek yogurt and a banana during the drive.Got in line , picked up race packet and then got body marking..
Event warmup:

Got set up in transition then went and got in the lake for a swim warm up.Had one gel 15 minutes before the race..
Swim
  • 09m 46s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got off to a good start and settle into a smooth stroke. I got hit in the right eye at the first buoy. After rounding I was able to fix the goggle that got punched. Did very well at spotting and rounding buoys.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to work on my form and technique and hope it translates to getting faster.
Transition 1
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

Had a long run in T1 with bike to the bike out.Had a decent time considering where my bike was racked.
What would you do differently?:

Just continue to practice T1..
Bike
  • 35m 47s
  • 14 miles
  • 23.47 mile/hr
Comments:

Got on the bike and was able to get into my shoes during the no pass zone, however there were many riders going to slow during the no pass zone..After that got up to speed and got into steady pace..
What would you do differently?:

Work on my pacing so I got some legs to run on..
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Again had a long run with the bike to get back to my spot. Racked the bike shoes on , helmet off, grabbed visor and race belt.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really had a decent time considering where my spot was.
Run
  • 26m 3s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

My quads were very tight when I started, just got into a comfortable pace that I could maintain, then pushed it hard for the last 1/2 mile in.My Garmin had the run at 3.2 miles.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to do my run workouts along with more bricks..
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing really, talked to some friends then had some water and a piece of cheese pizza.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I didn't taper this week because of my build week for my Augusta training. My legs were sore after the bike ride.

Event comments:

This is a great race. I will look at doing it again next year and try to improve my time. Plenty of volunteers and great post race activities.
