I'm downloading "The Downward Spiral" right now and am SUPER excited to see if i can get this to work on my TV.  I don't have an input on my TV that will work with my laptop, so i'm hoping that I can put the file on my external harddrive and run it on my PS3.  If not, I guess laptop in front of the trainer it is!

This is what my Saturday nights have become.....excited about something that will make me SUFFER in the morning!

Just do it. You'll love it and then be afraid to put it on again because of the pain.

Fight Club and The Hunted are my favorites. I also have Angels but I don't do it as much. I say it's because I don't like it as much, but I really think it's because I'm scared of it.

Meh, go outside and ride. The video is much better in real life.

the bear - 2011-08-28 9:31 AM Meh, go outside and ride. The video is much better in real life.

Bear, I prefer to ride outside but don't always get the chance due to schedule.  So if I must ride on a trainer, I want to do something that will both entertain me and kick my butt. Hence, Sufferfest!

So I downloaded the video, and am having problems with it on my laptop.  First it wouldn't play on Windows Media.  Then I downloaded some new codecs and I got the video to work but no audio.  Having some troubles getting my external hard drive to work with the PS3 too.

So i have a few things to work on today....good thing i got my workout in already!

My job is 100% travel. I spend 4 days a week in hotels, so at least one or two "rides" per week end up being done on a stationary bike in the hotel or at a nearby gym. Sufferfest on my iPhone makes it bearable and somewhat productive.

If you do Sufferfest as the video prescribes, it'll be harder in intensity than 95%, if not 99% of your road rides, even the hard ones.

Now I'm really stoked, I accomplished my mission today and got the video to work on my PS3, as well as on both laptops.  I'm ready to suffer where ever the road takes me!

I own all six videos. I found two work best two simulate a more triathlon based interval session. Angels and the hunted. Both are longer sets at somewhat less intensity. Don't get me wrong they hurt like heck. Fight club is also a fave. Downward spiral and revolver are short intense intervals. I have a love hate relationship with them. Great for power building but not really threshold work. Well beyond that. Then local hero. I just purchased and only ridden with it twice. A good mix of threshold and super threshold work. Any specific questions pm me. I can give very detailed assessments of all videos.

These videos are a great way to get in a very hard workout if you are confined to be inside. The folks at Sufferfest even put the workouts on their site. I have printed some of the other ones and done them to old tours, Versus, example. Any of them are humbling but Fight Club is my favorite.

I love the Sufferfest. Great music, good video footage. I only have 3 that were available before he made some that you had to pay for. I think they are, "Heaven knows I'm miserable now," "Glory & Pain" and a climbing one that I can't remember the name of.

I wouldn't hestitate to buy any of the ones that are available now, but don't ride inside that much, so I am currently happy with the 3 that I have.

Here's the 3 that I've got:

Sufferfest 3- Breakaway, Climbing - Nov 16, 2008
Sufferfest 4 - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now - Dec 14, 2008
Sufferfest 5 - Glory Days of Tears and Pain - Jan 9, 2009

Does anyone else have these ones? They no longer seem to be available. Do the newer ones have great music?

I downloaded and saved the first five videos from itunes before you had to pay. Good stuff.

I briefly used a pre-pay video. The music was good, but the video was a big grainy.

The new paid videos still have the great music, and sharp video. Very well done.

They're all killer workouts. Love 'em (and hate 'em) all.

anyone know if these are available on DVD, or burn-able to a dvd? I don't have a computer capable set up where my trainer is located, but a DVD could work. thanks.

Yes, you can burn them to DVD.  I burned mine and play it on my blu-ray player.

How, if you don't mind?  I have a Mac with Snow Leopard.  Thanks.

There is a program called Handbrake that I use quite frequently.  It's supported on all platforms.

Here is the download page: http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

You need to check your DVD player in your Mac and see if it has write capability; i.e., can burn DVDs.  If it can, just follow the instructions for burning a DVD.  You will need to purchase a blank DVD from Staples or somewhere that is the same format as the DVD player in your Mac.  The most popular format is DVD-R.

In my case, I just inserted a blank "DVD-R" DVD into my laptop, the autorun menu popped up, I chose "Burn a DVD", I then browsed through my folders to the Local Hero MP4, clicked on that sucker, and then the DVD started burning.

Thanks very much.  I think the last time I tried I had a much older OS.  I don't think I tried with the update.  I'll give this a shot.  Thanks again.
